Biography

Russell Wood, son of John and Annie Wood was born in Embro, Ontario. He attended SS #2 West Zorra and completed grade 8 at age 12 in 1932. He worked for two years on the family farm and then became a heavy transport truck driver.  Russel served in the Oxford Rifles Reserve from 1939 - 1942.  He married Annie Isobel Matheson and at the time of his enlistment they were living in St. Catharines, Ontario.  In May of 1944 Annie moved to Woodstock, Ontario. Russell was wounded in action on September 8, 1944 and again on October 26, 1944.  For his Service to the Country he earned the 1939-45 Star France and Germany Star Defence Medal CVSM & Clasp War Medal 1939-45.
