James Alexander Rutherford is thought to have been born in West Zorra Township on Sept. 25, 1872. At the time of his enlistment, on Dec. 6, 1915, he was a blacksmith and living in London with his wife Jeanette. For three years he had been a member of the Oxford Rifles.
