Biography

George Alexander Murray (1918-1988) was the son of James and Annie (nee Rowland) Murray and he was born on Lot 8, Concession 2, where his parents rented property. As of 1924, they lived on Lot 12, Concession 6. George served with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until March 25, 1946. He received the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp.  On July 26, 1947 George married Erma Noreen Hembruff.  They lived in Toronto, Streetsville and Woodstock, and together they raised 3 daughters - Gail, Joyce and Carol.  George died on April 29, 1988.
