Biography

Lorne Gordon McGirr was the son of George and Jean (nee McArthur) McGirr of east half Lot 28 Concession 9, East Nissouri Township, Oxford County, Ontario. Lorne was employed at Kintore Cheese Box Factory prior to enlisting May 1942. He graduated as an Air-Gunner at Fingal in 1943 after which he was stationed at Crumlin, until going overseas. Lorne served as a wireless air gunner, a member of Crew # 111 of  'Bluenose Squadron 434' (Halifax Bomber) stationed in Croft, England.  In 1943 he married Dorothy Jane McClain also of East Nissouri and they had a son Ronald.  Lorne is buried in Kintore Presbyterian Cemetery.
