Biography

John Lovatt Gleason was born in East Nissouri Township to Mrs. Sarah Gleason of RR # 1 Lakeside on June 15, 1892. When he enlisted in Toronto on December 16, 1914 he was a student at the Veterinary College. His attestation paper is stamped, "Invalided to Canada for further medical treatment, June 12, 1917." Captain E.W. Waud was the Hospital Representative, King's Canadian Red Cross. While being cared for in the hospital John met a nurse named Mary B. McLymont.  They were married in Chelsea, London ,in April of 1919.  She arrived in Canada on May 1, 1919.

He later married Helen Pope.  They are both buried in Lakeside On The Hill Cemetery, Lakeside, Ontario. His brothers, William and Charles, also both served in the war.
