Biography

Joseph Harold Thomas was born May 22, 1890 in Birmingham, England. When he enlisted on January 17, 1916, Joseph stated that he was an unmarried farmer with no previous military experience. He listed as his next-of-kin his sister Mrs. Edith Williams of Birmingham, England.  He was killed in action May 17, 1917 at Vimy Ridge and is buried in Fins New British Cemetery, Soel-Le-Gr, Somme, France. His name is on the Cenotaph in Ingersoll and on the Cenotaph at the Zorra Township Office. He is also mentioned in a book at St James Church, Ingersoll.
