Biography

John Moggach was born March 17, 1881 in Banffshire, Scotland. John served with the South African Constabulary for eight years prior to enlisting February 22, 1916, with the 168th C.E.F. Battalion. On his Attestation Papers John listed his next-of-kin as his wife Maria Catherine Moggach of Beachville, Ontario and that he was Presbyterian.  He was killed in action on August 16, 1917 at the age of 34, when he was hit by a sniper bullet. He was buried at Vimy Ridge, in Pas de Calais, France. His name appears on the Cenotaph at the Township of Zorra Office, and his name also appears in the First World War Book of Remembrance.
